Macchine Trasformazione Carta (MTC)

Time savings converts to increased design productivity for extremely complex machinery

A group of highly specialized technicians, with extensive experience in producing machinery for transforming tissue paper, founded Macchine Trasformazione Carta (MTC) in Porcari, in the province of Lucca, in January 1995. The company designs, produces, sells and supports tissue paper machinery for industrial and interleaved rolls.

Currently, production capability is broad and diversified, with completely automatic or semi-automatic solutions: V and W interleaving machines for producing hand towels; interleaving machines for producing facial tissue; Z interleaving machines for producing hand towels; start-stop rewinding machines for industrial rolls; orbital cutting machines for industrial rolls; derl, nested and point-to-point embossing units; electronic cutting machines for cutting folded products; wrapping machine for folded products and accessories for processing lines.

Widespread customer requests for customization practically make these machines, as well as their installations, standard modules. While the machines are all different, MTC strives to design them together, as possible. With over 300 modules sold worldwide, MTC is a significant player in the tissue machinery market, offering modern and innovative solutions, together with prompt and reliable service.

Simplifying and rationalizing installation, training and assistance activities

The planning and design of very complex machines, which often exceed 18,000 components, requires highly trained design technicians as well as high performance computer solutions. This conclusion led MTC management to equip itself with the Solid Edge® 3D CAD software from Siemens Digital Industries Software, which replaced two different 2D systems.

“For sure,” says Massimo Gabrielli, MTC design manager, “one of the reasons that convinced us to invest in Solid Edge was the possibility to simplify and rationalize all the installation, training and assistance activities supplied to us by Siemens Digital Industries Software. We also based our choice of Solid Edge on its many technical features, which were the subject of our careful evaluation.”

Gabrielli continues, “After a series of demonstrations relating to the various CAD 3D environments, the choice fell on Solid Edge because, on the whole, it seemed to us to be the most suitable solution to our needs. From the first moment, we had the definite feeling that Solid Edge was the simplest and easiest to understand. In fact, we only needed two training days to start working. In short time we mastered all the ‘tricks’, thanks to the assistance we received from the Sold Edge representatives.

“Today we have ten licenses, eight of which are used full time.We abandoned the two previous 2D design systems, which we now exclusively use to design general preliminary layouts relating to new machines we are about to design.”
