Electrical Routing

Electrical Routing

Electrical routing design has never been easier in Solid Edge. In this short video, you’ll get a close look at the newest tools to solve your toughest problems.

For manufacturers to meet market demands and maintain the level of quality customers expect, they need to understand how best to integrate the mechanical, electrical and electronic aspects of their design. Solid Edge electrical design software was developed to satisfy the requirements of companies where ease of use and value are as important as functionality.

Solid Edge Electrical Routing allows you to efficiently create, route and organize wires, cables and bundles in a Solid Edge assembly. Our software is integrated with Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design tools, allowing your electromechanical design teams to create complete and accurate digital mockups containing both mechanical and electrical components.

Automatic electrical routing in Solid Edge

Electrical engineers design a schematic that is sent to the Solid Edge 3D CAD environment. Harness details such as wires, connectors, terminals, splices and net lists are transferred and accessed with a simple click in the Solid Edge 3D CAD environment. Mechanical engineers can then work on the mechanical aspects of their design without worrying about changing associated wire harness information. Information flows between the electrical and mechanical worlds, enabling fast and easy collaboration.

A connected mode with Solid Edge Electrical Routing allows dynamic ECAD/MCAD collaboration with cross probing and dynamic updating between mechanical and electrical domains.

Once the design is complete, Solid Edge Electrical Routing exports ready-to-use net list files to the schematics so that the wires can be annotated with the lengths and use it for electrical analysis, e.g., voltage drop. This type of virtual prototyping removes the need for expensive physical prototypes.
